Planning

Decide the airport, check the Hotels’ availabilities where near to the city and rail

Day 1 – Arriving to Narita Airport

Kamakura Daibutsu – The Giant Bronze Buddha Statue

Located on the lands of the Kotokuin Temple, it is 13,35 m high and originally built to stand within the grounds of a 13th-century temple and second largest Buddha in Japan

We went there by Odakyu Railways which is cheapest one cost 1520 yen for round trip from Shinjuku to Kamakura and unlimited usage of the Enoden train. It takes at least 90 minutes.

Ticket is valid on one calendar day.

Tickets can buy at Odakyu railway stations, such as Shinjuku Station in central Tokyo.

It takes about 90 mins which is slower than other rides however scenic ride on the Enoden train.

Entrance is 300 yen and opens daily morning 8 AM to 5:30 PM (till 5 PM from October to March)

There are other ways to get there

By JR Yokosuka Line

The JR Yokosuka Line connects Tokyo Station directly with Kamakura Station. The one way trip takes just under an hour and costs 940 yen.

By JR Shonan Shinjuku Line

The JR Shonan Shinjuku Line provides a direct connection between Shinjuku Station and Kamakura Station. The one way trip takes about one hour and costs 940 yen.

By Odakyu Railways

The cheapest one of visiting Kamakura and takes at least 90 minutes and scenic ride on the Enoden train.

Getting around Kamakura

Zeniarai Benten Shrine 

“zeniarai ” means “coin washing”. A magical place, where people (local as well as foreigners) go to wash their money. It is said that money washed in the shrine’s spring, it will double.

Hasedera Temple

Hasedera is located a five minute walk from Hase Station, the third station from Kamakura along the Enoden railway line. It is famous for its eleven-headed statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy. The 9.18 meter tall, gilded wooden statue is regarded as one of the largest wooden sculptures in Japan and can be viewed in the temple’s main building, the Kannon-do Hall.
